TTHE ROXX were founded in 1984 - in “The Golden 80ies of Heavyrock”. Besides the classic sound of NEW WAVE OF BRITISH HEAVY METAL, THE ROXX betimes experience by crossing genre borders, like adding synthsounds, sitars, banjos or even a Rapper to classic Heavyrock. Besides music, THE ROXX focus on complex arranged liveperformances, with backdrops and actors on stage supporting the songs messages.
The bands first vinyl release SUGAR AND SPICE from 1986, with its plastic-bubble cover, is today a collectors item. The tracks ON THE ROXX and BOY BITCH were played in German discotheques, both made it on the MUNICH CITY NIGHTS collection. SUGAR AND SPICE was followed by WATCH US CUM in 1988, with the synthy-heavyrock hitsingle DREAM GRIPER. Besides: WATCH US CUM was badly cut, bootlegged, and wrong-titled GET IT HOT in Europe and Russia (in Russia even rumours were spread that GET IT HOT is a secret project of Rob Halford and Metallicas bass player Jason Newsted).
The album CHILLS DOWN YOUR SPINE (1990) was never released, as guitarist ANIMALE died. THE ROXX mastermind BILL ITCH met guitarist L.X. Gaitanides. The 1990 doublealbum SEX & ROXX & ROCK’N’ ROLL (Part I and Part II) became the bands most “classic” Heavyrock album. The ballade MAY BE entered German charts. A strange release and today a collectors item is the limited vinyl EP WILD THING (960 copies), with an empty b-side, packed in a pizza cardboard.
1992 the album NO SOLE MESSIAH was released. NO SOLE MESSIAH presents various songwriting, and with indian sitar and saxophone contributions again some openminded sounds. For the track THE WAY TO BABYLON a dixieland band sat in and joined THE ROXX.
After the 1994 live album WILD THINGS LIVE it took 12 years for the band to release the 2-track EP TRIGGER/RIP in 2006, 20 years after their first album (the 1995 initially announced album DOMINATOR was never released). On TRIGGER, a NY-rapper argues with leadsinger BILL ITCH about the real deal in music.
2007 saw the release of the album UNLEASH YOUR DEMON, followed in 2008 by the compilation-double-CD HISTORY DECADE ONE 1984-1994 (packed in a tinbox, containing 30 remastered tracks and some unreleased bonustracks), as well as the Live-DVD UNLEASH THE DEMON (recorded in 2006). THE ROXX toured 2008 in Germany, Austria, Swizerland, Hungary and Czech Rep with GRAHAM BONNET and PRETTY MAIDS. The album IRONic TRUTH was released in November 2009.
The new album TO HEAVEN WITH HELL is announced for release later in 2012.
